The making of short films is ideally regarded to be the stepping stone into the world of cinematography. Young and often ambitious rookie film makers tend to break into the competitive big screens league by participating in low budget production competition.

Over the past month, the 48 Hour Film Project - Kenyan Chapter has been underway with different teams striving to pull off their best production. This exhilarating concept entails creation of a film from scratch within a tight-scheduled restricted to just 48 hours.

Participants are tasked to develop captivating scripts, be ingenious and adhere to rigorous production rules.The strict deadlines are expected to spur action and stimulate the various teams' creative juices.

Numerous films emerged as nominee finalists for the 48 Hour Film Project [48HFP] 2015 edition. Among these were First Time [Team Kangethe], Binary [HK9], I-SPY [16 Shots], Dare or Die [Team Hamsini], All 4 Mike [Indie Visuals], Bait [Kibanda Pictures] and Heart Shot [Mau Mau].

Other entries included It's Been A While [Victorious Secret], Laska [Yousuf Photography Production], Levels [Entourage], Lost [K-Squared], Shakedown [Full Frame], Next [Mojo] and Margaux With An X [Notorious].

The winners are adjudged on basis of the global 48HFP with focus on scripts creativity, technical delivery, films entertainment value besides teams' adherence to stipulated rules.

And as the curtains came down after public screenings, Bait produced by Kibanda Pictures scooped the top honours. It was unanimously declared as the Best Film 2015 - besides also taking home awards in five categories.

Bait will be featured alongside other top films from across the world in Hollywood at the Filmapalooza 2016 - a film festival dedicated to short films. The top ten productions are expected to be during the Cannes Film Festival's Short Films Corner.
