Ricky na Marafiki began their musical journey in the year 2010, it was and still is a four piece band made up of friends who enjoy making music together. Steve Munga who plays the Saxophone is an engineer in his other life.

He is also known as the Band Chief Whip and he does not hesitate to crack the whip when things don't go according to plan. He brings much needed sanity among the crazy bunch of creatives. Dr.Mike plays the piano. As the doctor he is our mr. fix-it it guy. He is the guy whose vote everyone wants to have where band matters are concerned. Kelvin Gachagua, the baby of the band is an accomplished singer in his own right. His curtain raising ballads give our shows the much sought after x-factor.

Ricky, the founder and genius behind Ricky na Marafiki band eats, drinks and breathes Music. He started out as a drummer in church before he graduated to bass. AfroJazz is a style he fell in love with when he travelled to America and heard a performance by Ettien Mpabe and he was simply blown away by his style. His passion and drive, other than chicken is the thought of Ricky and Marafiki's afrojazz competing with others in the global music charts and markets.

Some of the group's more notable achievements so far include participating in the Sauti Baraza festival in Zanzibar. They also hold an evening of afrojazz monthly at Alliance Francaise with different themes every month where they have attracted a large following.

Their debut album ,Tucheze was released in 2011 and their second album SO SIMPLE 2015.
